3 Days in Maine!!!
When deciding where to go to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary, I had a couple of places come to mind. We had thought about Washington State or even The Keys down in Florida, but Maine kept pulling at my heart ❤️I’ve always wanted to visit the beautiful state of Maine and eat plenty of lobsters, and that’s exactly what we did!! We flew into Portland as it was the least expensive to fly into from Atlanta. We rented a jeep right there at the airport and headed straight for Kennebunkport!! I had us a full day already planned out! Our first stop was LUNCH😋 I had done my research and found The Clam Shack located at 2 Western Ave Kennebunk, ME was the perfect place to try our very first lobster roll EVER!! We were not disappointed!! Each lobster roll was stuffed with 1 pound of fresh lobster meat at a cost of $20.95 each. A little pricey but worth every cent!!!
After a wonderful lunch, we decided to grab an ice cream cone at Rococo Artisan, which was walking distance from The Clam Shack. I had goat cheese blackberry flavor waffle cone and it was delicious!!
Once we were so full we couldn’t hardly move, we headed to our next destination. We stopped to get some pictures of The Bush family compound and to take in some of the stunning views in Kennebunkport.
Later that evening after freshening up, we headed off to dinner. We decided on Eventide Oyster Co. I had read some excellent reviews on this restaurant, especially on their lobster rolls. I must say that out of the four different places I ate lobster rolls, Eventide was the BEST!!!!! It was truly scrumptious!! My husband had their fish sandwich and it was just as delicious!! Eventide is located at 86 Middle Street Portland, ME and is open daily from 11am till midnight. They also serve a large variety of oysters to choose from. We did have to wait for a little over an hour, but after eating their food, we understood why🤤
The next morning we were off to explore Acadia National Park. We had the top off of the jeep and the music up loud!! It was a beautiful day to take in all of the stunningly beautiful sites!! It was about a four hour drive from Portland to Acadia which is located near Bar Harbor, ME. Acadia has a 27-mile Park Loop Road that drives past most of Acadia’s most popular sites. We spent the day exploring all of the beautiful sites!!
I would highly recommend visiting Acadia National Park if ever in Maine. It was absolutely amazing!! We stopped in Bar Harbor on the way back and had dinner. It was such a great town!
On our last day we decided to try some whale watching in downtown Portland at Odyssey Whale Watching. It was a four hour boat trip in search of whales. Unfortunately we didn’t run across any, however, we did see some huge fish and some beautiful lighthouses!!
My husband and I absolutely LOVED Maine and would like to make a return visit one day! They had some of the best food ever and it was breathtakingly beautiful there!! Check out my upcoming post about the best places to eat in Maine!!
